Atomobile technology has really a kind of magic in it.

In the latest issue of HR about the FR500. They say the the FR500 is first factory built race car built in house by Ford. That's not true: The First Factory built Race Car was the 1969 BOSS 302. It was built specifically for to beat Chevy in Trans Am racing (which it did in 1970) and was completely assembled on the Ford general assembly line. The cars were built on the assembly line, then sent out to race teams and dealerships. Of course the second Factory Race car was the 1970 BOSS 302. They were built at the Deraborn, and Metuchen assembly plants. Shelby's were not assembled inhouse on Fords assembly line; they were coded, then sent out to Shelby American. BOSS 429's were sent to Kar Kraft. So there is your first first factory built race car.
